Ida West Health Scholarship

To pay tribute to the life and work of Aunty Ida, the Department of Health administers an annual scholarship in her name. The Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarship provides financial assistance to Aboriginal students completing a formal qualification at university or vocational education (such as TAFE) in a health and or human services related field.

If you are planning to commence or continue study in a health or human services related field, you may be eligible.

Scholarships are awarded each year with a maximum value of $5 000 per year of required study, up to a total maximum value of $15 000 for each scholarship.

2019 Scholarships

The Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarship Committee and the Department of Health has committed to providing ongoing funding to the current scholarship recipients in 2019.

A Presentation Ceremony was held at Parliament House on the 5 July 2018 for the recipients and attended by family, friends, members of the West family, local members of parliament, and Department of Health representatives.
