Tasmanian Nursing & Midwifery Symposium - Celebrating the Extraordinary

Tasmanian Nursing and Midwifery Symposium 2019
Celebrating the Extraordinary

1 March 2019 - Hobart Grand Chancellor

This will be an inaugural event for Tasmania, providing a unique opportunity for nurses and midwives to showcase their achievements, network with colleagues; engage with local and national leaders to share ideas on current issues and trends in the nursing and midwifery professions.

The theme for the Symposium - Celebrating the Extraordinary will be reflected within the keynote addresses, in the plenary sessions and workshops. Most importantly this is an opportunity to join with colleagues, in Tasmania's beautiful waterfront location, to celebrate our truly amazing and extraordinary professions.

Welcome from the Chief Nurse and Midwife

It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to delegates attending the inaugural Tasmanian Nursing and Midwifery Symposium 2019 in Hobart.

A statewide event is long overdue and we hope that you will find the Symposium program stimulating, thought provoking and of course, uplifting.

Celebrating the Extraordinary is a tribute to Tasmania’s nurses and midwives the jewels in our healthcare ‘crown'. This is a day where we come together and showcase the extraordinary, the everyday and all that lays in between.

Tasmania’s nurses and midwives always enjoy sharing time together, so join us in beautiful Hobart - 1 March 2019 - where we can truly celebrate the extraordinary!

I look forward to seeing you in 2019

Hobart, Tasmania

Hobart offers a contrasting blend of heritage, scenery, arts and culture, with world class activities, festivals, adventures and attractions nearby.

Nestled amongst the foothills of kunanyi / Mt Wellington, Hobart combines heritage charm with a modern lifestyle in a setting of exceptional beauty. It’s no wonder Lonely Planet has called Hobart one of the top ten spots to visit in the world right now.

Hobart is Tasmania’s capital city and the second oldest capital in Australia, after Sydney. Located at the entrance to the Derwent River, its well-preserved surrounding bushland reaches close to the city centre and beaches line the shores of the river and estuary beyond.

With its captivating history, picturesque waterways, rugged mountains and gourmet experiences, the city has something for everyone.

Award-winning restaurants offer fine dining experiences using the best Tasmanian produce recognised by the world’s best chefs, while on the waterfront punts and fishmongers sell the freshest seafood straight from the Southern Ocean.
