Practice Development Workshop

Practice Development Workshop Information

Friday 01 March 2019

Session Times

11:00 am to 12:30 pm & 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm

This workshop is directed toward those who are less familiar with Practice Development (PD) and the use of facilitative ‘PD’ tools, and would like to know more, or those who know nothing about PD, but would like to find out more.

The workshop will provide a short overview of PD theory and methodologies and then provide opportunity for participants to experience PD tools close up.

This involves participative exercises with the use of cards as a hands-on tool and as a facilitative technique when working with groups and/or individuals. A range of techniques are explored to demonstrate the different and creative ways cards can be used e.g. reflection; to build conversations; to construct meaning; as a further means of expression and communication beyond words or a non-threatening way to talk about sometimes-difficult concepts/experiences. Participants will also have the opportunity to facilitate a small group exercise if they wish to do so.

Using cards as a facilitative technique can be challenging for the first time. As with all things practice makes perfect and this workshop provides an opportunity to gain confidence, increase competence, learn some new techniques and have some fun.

The format of the workshop is the same for both the morning and afternoon sessions.

You can indicate your intent to participate in the Workshop on the day of the Symposium.
