What is Outreach?

An outreach service is where a health professional provides a service in a location other than where they principally practice.

The preferred model for outreach is a service provided to rural, regional, remote or very remote communities by service providers travelling to these locations from a larger and less remote town / area.

The purpose of an outreach service is to increase access to services that the community / population / region in question would not normally have. Outreach services are ideally provided in more rural and remote locations where the need for access to services is higher.
