Filming of LGH Live Music

Filming of LGH Live Music

The Launceston General Hospital Visual and Performing Arts Committee have recently secured a small LCC Community grant to film a small documentary of their successful program of Live Music at the LGH. The program has been captured in oils on canvas by three local artists and is presently permanently displayed on a Level 3 hospital street adjacent to the open air gallery where a barbed wire brumby horse life size sculpture is on a display; a gift of the LGH Historical Committee in recent years.

Mr Paul A.C. Richards AM, chair of Visual Arts said that the filming will be undertaken by Mr David Brill AM an award winning internationally renowned video Journalist who now resides in Hobart. Covid-19 interrupted the music program in March 2020 and it is hoped that the program will recommence by March 2021 when filming and editing of past performances of our regular musicians will be undertaken.

The completed film documentary will be about 8 minutes in length and will serve as an inspirational video on the value of music and art in the healing process. It will be distributed to Health and Aged care institutions throughout Tasmania to encourage transplantation of such programs of music in Health Institutions as a reminder of what art and music can achieve for better health outcomes for all Tasmanians.
