New Wall of Art - Live Music at the LGH - October 2020

New Wall of Art - Live Music at the LGH - October 2020

During the last three years the LGH Visual and Performing Arts Committee have had a very successful program of live music at the Launceston General Hospital. Musicians have been supported by several successful community grants from the Premier, Launceston City Council and the Tasmanian Community Fund. These grants have supported live performances every fortnight at the Café on Franklin as well a live music on the move around the hospital corridors and selected spaces within the hospital.

In December 2019 a successful LCC Community grant supported three artists in residence who’s brief was to capture the live music program on canvas at Café on  Frankland and also within the corridors of our musicians on the move.

The project has now come to its conclusion and the art work is to be mounted on a level 3 corridor wall in view of the main street of the hospital and close by the out-door sculpture of our barbed wire brumby horse.

We congratulate Darren Meader, Ric Bennett and Clare Holder for their interpretation and capture of live music on canvas at the LGH.

The wall of art will be opened by the Minister for Health The Hon Sarah Courtney MHA when COVID restrictions are lifted at the LGH to allow a small gathering to assemble in due course.
