Pop Up Gallery at the ARTrium

Launceston General Hospital

Frankland Street

The notion of having a blank wall in the ARTrium art space at the Launceston General Hospital’s Northern Integrated Care Services building ( NICS) led to the popular concept of Pop Up Art Exhibitions in conjunction with our regular exhibitions.

Pop up exhibitions originated in empty shop spaces which were conveniently located in towns and cities around the world. A new concept for artists to show their work. Empty wall space also attracts pop up and this is where the innovative development in the ARTrium space at the Launceston General Hospital will showcase established and emerging Tasmanian artists.

The first pop up art exhibition features Ryllton Viney a seasoned artist and Rosie Teng Hong a popular exhibitor. Both have been Glover prize finalists and have recently exhibited in Launceston and Burnie.

The pop up exhibition, will be on the wall by 17 February 2014 and revolves around the definative works of two established artists. They will both have four pieces exhibited for a three week period.

We are appealing for established and in particular to emerging artists to submit four of  their works for Pop Up in the ARTrium Gallery space.

Vibrant works on paper/canvas or board in any of the following media: i.e  illustration, photography, printmaking and collage would be conducive to this space

The ARTrium will continue to stage pop up exhibitions every month as the gallery is now a popular space for visitors and staff of the LGH & NICS complex.
