New Books for Publications for 2019

The last twelve months have been a busy time in preparing three books for publication by the LGH Historical, Visual and Performing Arts Committies. At the August meeting three books were presented and permission was granted for publication

1- The Sounds of Launceston: The final book in a trilogy on the history of Launceston edited by Paul A.C. Richards , Barbara Valentine and Tom Dunning. Successful publications in this series, The Fabric of Launceston 2016  financed by an original grant from the Plomley Foundation and  Kaleidoscope 2018 from  The Fabric profits have allowed the ‘Sounds’ to be published in due course.

2- The History of St Paul’s Anglican Church 1854-2020: This book covers the history of St Paul’s, Cleveland St, St Paul’s by the Sea, Low Head and St Paul’s Chapel, LGH with invitation chapters from the late Rev David Johnson, Dr Debra Malor and contributions from parishioners written and collated by Paul A.C. Richards.

3- Celebrating a Century of Caring: North Eastern Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital 1920-2020: Written by Paul A.C. Richards and Wendy McKay supported by two essays from the Dorset Historical Society and memories by staff and the local population of Scottsdale.

All publications are with Foot & Playsted our preferred publishers and will be available in due course. Books in the wings include a book on  LGH Memorial Plaques, An LGH Enquiry in 1909 and   Mrs Wane, First Lady Superintendent 1886 for 2020/21
