The Tasmanian Health Organisation — North West Orthopaedic Department’s aim is to provide high quality care for patients presenting with a wide range of orthopaedic conditions.

Our multidisciplinary team is made up of orthopaedic surgeons, orthopaedic registrars, resident medical officers/Interns, specialty nurses, physiotherapists and support staff who are dedicated to managing Orthopaedic treatment from complex joint replacements and reconstructions, to many other conditions.

Orthopaedic patients are managed within two hospital settings, the North West Regional Hospital and Mersey Community Hospital. Surgery at the North West Regional Hospital varies from day case to complex cases whilst less complex surgery and day surgical procedures are conducted within Mersey Community Hospital.

Orthopaedics is supported by Pre Admission Clinics, Operating Theatres and Day Procedure Units, Surgical Inpatient Ward Areas and Outpatient/Specialist Clinics.

Outpatient/Specialist Clinics at conducted within each hospital from 8:30am – 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday. There is a Departmental Review of Clinical Care at the North West Regional Hospital on Friday morning.
