Mental Health Act 2013 - Review 2020

Have your say

People with lived experience of mental illness, their families, friends and carers, clinicians, organisations and others with an interest in the Mental Health Act 2013 (Tas) are invited to review its operation.

When the Act started on 17 February 2014 it was a significant reform in how people who live with severe mental illness were assessed and treated.

As such, section 229 stipulates that the Act’s operation must be reviewed within six years of commencement.

This review is an important way to ensure the Act is working as originally intended.

A Consultation Paper has been developed to help people who wish to provide feedback. The Paper and a Response Template are available for download below.

The closing date for responses is Friday, 8 November 2019.
