Health Council of Tasmania

Health Council of Tasmania

The Health Council of Tasmania (HCT) plays an important part in setting the strategic direction of health and healthcare in Tasmania. The HCT represents the views of clinicians, consumers and community members to the Minister for Health and appropriate senior officers within the Tasmanian health system.

A part of this role is to actively consult with consumers, community members and other identified stakeholders about their issues and priorities for health and healthcare. The HCT also plays a role in monitoring and contributing to health system reforms, such as the One State, One Health System, Better Outcomes agenda and the Healthy Tasmania Five Year Strategic Plan.

Call for Expression of Interest – Membership 2017

The Tasmanian Government is seeking up to nine new members to join the HCT in 2017 for a fixed-term period of two years. The call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) in these positions is now open.

The role of individual HCT members is to:

  • provide strategic advice on the basis of their knowledge and expertise
  • participate in and undertake the work of the HCT
  • lead and participate in stakeholder, community and consumer engagement activities across Tasmania (all related travel costs will be reimbursed)
  • act as a conduit and take responsibility for disseminating approved information across stakeholder groups.

Members will be selected by the Minister for Health on the basis of their knowledge and experience of the Tasmanian health system.

Potential members can apply by completing the EOI form, providing their curriculum vitae and any other relevant information, and submitting a statement in response to the selection criteria.

The EOI process is open until close of business Monday 16 January 2017.

HCT meetings occur bi-monthly and no less than four times per year. Some out-of-session activities apply, such as HCT sponsored events and community consultation sessions. As a community advisory body, membership does not attract sitting fees.
