Tasmanian Health Service

The Tasmanian Health Service Act commenced on 1 July 2018.  Under the new Act, the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) is directly accountable to the Secretary, Department of Health, streamlining governance and supporting local decision making.

The THS has a clear responsibility and accountability for governing and delivering high quality, efficient and integrated healthcare services in their area, through the public hospital system and primary and community health services (including mental health and oral health services).

Clear operational charts which outline who is making decisions at each hospital and health facility within the THS are available – THS Operational Structure.
