Radiation Therapists have a range of roles within the radiation oncology setting. A team of Radiation Therapists will be present at your simulation and treatment sessions. We also work behind the scenes with your Radiation Oncologist to make your individual radiation plan.
The Radiation Therapists have been trained to use the department’s linear accelerators, CT scanner, radiation planning software and brachytherapy unit. We use cutting edge techniques to make sure that we personalise each patient’s treatment, to achieve the best results whilst minimising the side effects.
The Radiation Therapy team pride themselves on a patient centred approach and will be able to assist you with things such as:
- Answer any questions you or your family have regarding your radiation treatment.
- Assess and monitor any side effects you may experience.
- Listen and support you with any concerns or challenges you may have.
- Assist in arranging your next appointment.
- Talk with doctors on your behalf.
- Link you with other services and supports.
- Provide a positive environment for your treatment.
